Have you ever added a top coat to a piece and after it has dried has it ever felt rough? I know mine has. The roughness that you feel is caused when the wood fibers have come in contact with water or moisture and they swell, creating that roughness. Here is a simple tip to help with this.
You can simply use a paper lunch bag where you can buy in the store as little as $1.99 for 100 of them or use a free paper bag that you get from the grocery store. The paper bag acts as a very fine sandpaper. Just use the paper bag once the top coat has dried and rub over the surface and it will knock off that roughness. And the great part is it doesn't leave scratch marks like a sandpaper would. This technique leaves the top of your piece SMOOTH AS SILK!
